Dempo star Clifford Miranda expresses his thoughts and opinions on several issues…..

Clifford Miranda, Dempo, India (Mango Peel)

Hi everyone,

It’s been quite a disappointing season in the I-League as we could not perform as we usually do. We had a bad start, lost our first match and also lost crucial fixtures as the season progressed.

Last season we reached the semi-finals of the AFC Cup. This season too we hope to do well and are doing well so far: we are second in our group. But this year we have a slightly more difficult group than we had last year. Yet we hope to qualify at least for the pre-quarter finals of the AFC Cup this season and hopefully then progress beyond that stage.

About the Goal 2011 project...Well, it's a very good thing and I feel that the national team should be together as much as it possibly can. Having said that, I would also like to point out that if the project indeed gets the green light, then clubs like East Bengal and Dempo would lose players. So, maybe the club officials and the national team management can sit together and find out a solution.

In my last blog, a number of readers had asked me whether I would like to play for Mohun Bagan. Now, I have always been open to the idea of playing in Kolkata and have always maintained that one day I would play in Kolkata. Maybe, just maybe, it could be this year. My contract with Dempo also comes to an end this year.

But I would like to say that I am happy here at Dempo. But you never know.

Take care,

Clifford Miranda
