The All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary Kushal Das has commended Kalyani Group for winning the bid to be the 11th I-League team for the upcoming season 2014-15 season.
"The bid evaluation committee have reviewed the bids submitted and have accepted the bid of Kalyani which is a huge group," Das told Goal .
"It (Kalyani Group) is a very financially sound group. It is good for Indian football that such corporates are coming in. Hopefully they will also have the same kind of impact that JSW (Jindal South West) did and that would be great for Indian football," he added.
JSW won the bid last year and formed Bengaluru FC which won the I-League 2013-14 title in what was their maiden league appearance.
"Our expectations [from Kalyani Group] are the same as what JSW did - [to] create good infrastructure, have their own stadium in due course, create a robust fan base and do the right thing professionally.
"Pune already have a very professional club in Pune FC, so another addition would be of great value to that region," Das concluded.
