Salgaocar have renewed the contract of striker Darryl Duffy for the 2014-15 season.
Duffy finished the I-League’s joint top scorer at the last season with a tally of 14 goals and was adjudged the best foreign player of the league. He netted on his I-League debut to secure a 1-0 win for the Greens against Churchill Brothers.
“Firstly, I’m delighted to be coming back, my family and myself are looking forward to getting back to Goa and getting started," remarked Duffy after signing on the dotted line.
The 30-year old striker becomes the club’s second foreign signing after Douhou Pierre was roped in from Pune FC earlier.
“Last season had ups and downs for the club and me personally. We had a fantastic start, dipped in form after the International break and during the Federation Cup, and finished the season strongly. Hopefully we can be more consistent this season and build on last season’s third place finish," he added.
“We are delighted to have Duffy back with us for another season. Besides being instrumental in helping the team finish third last season with some important goals, it is his attitude on and off the pitch that has impressed me the most," said coach Derrick Pereira.
