Lenny Rodrigues has agreed terms with Dempo SC as he is set to join Arthur Papas’ outfit on loan after his stint with FC Pune City in the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League (ISL). He has already been training with the Goan giants for the last week or so.
The 27-year old has won two I-League titles with Churchill Brothers SC and also was honoured with the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Best Midfielder award in 2013.
He was also awarded the prestigious Football Players Association of India’s (FPAI) Indian Player of the Year in 2013.
“I'm excited to play for Dempo [SC]. After Churchill [Brothers SC], Dempo was my dream club in Goa,” Rodrigues told Goal.
Despite joining IMG-Reliance after Churchill Brothers weren’t granted a license to play in the I-League, Rodrigues wanted to ensure that he gets to play in the I-League in order to stay in contention for a berth in the national team.
"We need a club to play in the national team. The [national team] manager also called me because the coach (Wim Koevermans) has been keeping all details of his players,” he mentioned.
