The Flaming Oranje have made their first foreign signing and also kicked-off their pre-season training...Sporting Clube de Goa have signed Spanish defender Pablo Gallardo for the upcoming season, Goal can confirm.
Pablo had been part of Sevilla FC youth set-up and has plied his trade for the B side of the Spanish club from 2005-2009.
In the last season, he played for Burgos, a Segunda Division B side, i.e. an outfit playing in the third tier of Spanish football. He played 2320 minutes of league football in 2013-14, featuring 26 times in the starting line-up.
"We have agreed a deal with him. He is waiting for the VISA and will come to India soon," a club official from the Goan club informed.
Sporting have also decided to retain Boima Karpeh, the Liberian- Australian striker, who was the highest scorer for them in the last edition of the I-League. The former Pune FC and Churchill Brothers forward had scored 11 goals last term.
Meanwhile, Salgaocar have announced the signing of Zakeer Mundampara, who represented Mohun Bagan in the 2013-'14 I-League.
"Salgaocar are a great club with a very rich history and I consider it an honour to don the Green and White jersey. I look forward to playing under coach Derrick Pereira," the Kerala-born midfielder told.
