Pune FC likely to buy stake in Salman’s Pune ISL franchisee

The Red Lizards’s Head of Operations was present at the ‘Clubs Sequence Selection’ on Monday representing 'FC Pune City'...

Pune FC are expected to pick a stake in the Indian Super League’s (ISL) Pune franchisee, Goal can reveal.

The Pune club in the ISL is owned by Bollywood star Salman Khan and the Wadhawan Group while the Piramals and Rohan Gavaskar are the proprietors of Pune FC which plies its trade in the country's top division.

While the talks between the two parties have been ongoing for the last two months, it has gathered pace in the last two days following which Chirag Tanna, Pune FC’s Head of Operations joined representatives of the Wadhawan Group at the ‘Clubs Sequence Selection’ meet in Mumbai on Monday afternoon.

According to sources, it is believed that Pune FC are expected to buy a 20 to 30 percent stake in the franchisee and their players wouldn’t directly be a part of the ISL side at least in the first season.

Attempts made to reach Pune FC representatives proved futile as they remained unavailable for comment.
