As per official data released by the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) I-League secretariat, the national league's attendances recorded at home games for Mohun Bagan have been the highest among participating teams for the 2013-14 season. The Kolkata-based club notched up an average attendance of 17068 for all 12 home games it played.
Shillong Lajong FC, came in a distant second, with an average attendance of 11308, whilst East Bengal came third with an average of 8667 supporters per home game.
The Kolkata derby held between the Mariners and the Red and Gold on November 24, 2013 at the Salt Lake Stadium, a 100000 capacity ground that is shared by both the Kolkata heavyweights, saw the maximum turnout with about 80000 spectators coming in to witness the spectacle.
I-League champions, Bengaluru FC came in sixth with an average attendance of about 7068. What is important to note is that the Bengaluru club had the highest average stadium turnout, with over 90% in attendance out of a possible total of 8500 in the games held at the Karnataka State Football Association owned stadium.
The tie between Pune FC and Bengaluru FC which was their final home game of the season had the highest recorded match attendance for the ground.
The Jawaharlal Nehru stadium (JLN) in Shillong, witnessed a house full when 22000 people turned out to witness a Shillong derby between Shillong Lajong FC and Rangdajied United. This game was also amongst the top five highest recorded attendances throughout the season.
The average attendance figures for the ground indicated a turnout of 18995, per game in 24 home games played for both Lajong as well as Rangdajied.
Goan club Dempo SC had an average spectator turnout of 2542 and crucially recorded more attendees than all of their other Goan rivals viz. Churchill Brothers, Salgaocar FC, and Sporting Clube de Goa.
The matches for the above mentioned teams took place at the Duler Stadium, the Fatorda Stadium, and the Tilak Maidan.
2586 attendees per game was the magical number for Pune FC, who shared their ground, the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex with Maharashtra rivals Mumbai FC and significantly outscored their opponents in that respect.
