The club aim to have an established marquee player, whilst ensuring all other fronts are being covered with regards to foreign recruits...
With the All India Football Federation (AIFF) stressing that all I-League clubs participating in the 2014-15 season need to have a marquee signing, Mohun Bagan have made moves to ensure they fulfil this quota at the earliest.
According to reports in the Times of India, Pierre Boya, a Cameroonian international who plies his trade with Albanian club Kukesi, is currently heading the Mariners’ wanted list. He has even scored for FK Partizan, a Belgrade club, in the Champions League, automatically qualifying him as marquee as per AIFF dictum.
As Goal reported earlier, a marquee player must have represented his country at an international tournament or played in a top league with an established club besides representing his country.
Akram Moghrabi, a Lebanese striker is also an option on the list whilst it has been revealed that Bagan are poaching Sony Nordy, a Haitian playmaker currently serving Bangladesh’s Dhanmondi Club. He had impressed the Bagan management whilst playing for his side in the IFA Shield as talks were said to have reached the “advanced stage”.
Mohun Bagan have so far retained Katsumi Yusa whilst shoring up their defense with Nigerian Fatai Adisa Alao from Al Oruba in Yemen.
