The now former Midnapore and United SC stopper has agreed a deal to keep him at Salgaocar till 2016, vows to "justify the trust" place in him...
Goan giants Salgaocar FC have successfully negotiated a deal to bring the Midnapore and West Bengal custodian Abhijit Das into their fold.
Das, whose performance against his new club in the I-League 2013-14 season earned him rave reviews and a man of the match award, has signed on the dotted line with the term of the contract set to three years.
"I am thrilled and very excited to have received an offer from Salgaocar FC. I am looking to give my best and hopefully my performances on the pitch will justify the trust Salgaocar have imposed in me,” Das was quoted saying.
Das’ career began with a stint at Southern Samity, a Kolkata based club at the age of 23 and he would go on to play for the club for three years. Last year, he represented the purple brigade of United SC, another Kolkata based club in the I-League.
He and Karanjit Singh, already the select first choice keeper for Salgaocar, are expected to form a considerably strong goalkeeping backbone for the Greens of Goa, whilst slugging it out for the number 1 jersey.
