Australian striker Tolgay Ozbey has revealed he would love to participate in the Indian Super League (ISL) if afforded the opportunity, especially with Shrinivas Dempo, the owner of Dempo, having stake in the Goan franchise.

"If I am given an opportunity, I would love to play in the ISL. I think it's very exciting for Indian football and I would like to be a part of it,” said the 28 year-old to Goal.

Dempo SC have on purpose decided to rope in several young players last season in their bid to vitalise the squad following Armando Colaco's stint at the club.

“We have a lot of young players and I really enjoy it, I love their attitude and work ethic. Being a senior player to them I would like to help them as much as I can,” elucidated Ozbey when questioned on how it feels to be a part of a team that has a vital core of young Indian talent.

“I believe all the young boys in our team have a very promising future. Pronay Halder, Alwyn George, Naryan Das,” were his picks for three young players from the side who had impressed him most.

The Australian was forthcoming in his answer, when asked if Arthur Papas’ presence at Dempo was a major reason for him to sign for the Goan club and if their footballing philosophies matched.

“Yes definitely, Arthur is a professional coach who understands my game, and I believe he gets the best out of me. I feel like I’m learning something new every day under Arthur Papas. I'm really looking forward to the start of the season.”

Ozbey scored 10 goals in 17 matches for Mohun Bagan in what was a tumultous campaign for the Mariners. At Mohammedan Sporting having starred in the club's Durand Cup triumph, he failed miserably in the I-League under the tutelage of Abdul Aziz Masood.

On being asked to speak on the above mentioned ardous campaigns, Ozbey replied rather jokingly, “I chose to leave Bagan where it rained, and got caught at Mohammedan where hailed.”
