thumbnail Hello,

Salgaocar's title hopes were dashed as Oscar Bruzon's side held them to a 3-3 draw in an exciting encounter...

Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

TOP: Rowlin Borges

Sporting's heartbeat in midfield was all over the pitch in this high scoring contest. He was at the center of every Sporting attack and played his part in every goal that Sporting scored. Kalu Ogba scored the first goal, heading in from a beautiful cross from Rowlin down the right hand side which started Sporting's comeback after going two goals down.

The next goal came after Rowlin danced past a couple of defenders and shot goalwards only to be headed behind. The resulting corner which was taken by him lead to their second goal. Sporting heaped misery on Salgaocar when Rowlin himself deservedly got onto the score sheet with 20 minutes left, completing a remarkable comeback. He was applauded by the crowd at the end of the game as he received the Man of the match award from national coach Wim Koevermans.

FLOP: Augustin Fernandes

After going two goals up in the opening 10 minutes of the game, you would expect Salgaocar to coast to victory considering their solid central defensive pair, but that was not the case as they let in 3 goals to crush their title hopes. Augustin Fernandes had a poor night, unable to deal with Rowlin and Boima Karpeh on multiple ocassions.
