The north eastern side’s coach was disappointed with referee Santosh Kumar’s decision to award a penalty to Mohammedan…
Rangdajied United were defeated 2-1 by Mohammedan Sporting last weekend with Luciano Sobrosa’s 64th minute penalty being the difference between the two sides.
Hering Shangpliang was disappointed with his team’s performance but mentioned that Lamine Tamba didn’t clip Manish Maithani inside the box which led to the penalty being awarded.
“I am not happy with the performance. I have no comment regarding the referring but I don't think it was a penalty,” he said.
The former Shillong Lajong manager reiterated that his team has enough quality to defeat any side in the I-League.
“On any day we can beat any team. I won't say there was any drop in intensity after conceding the second goal as we were pushing for the goal as well. I don't think the changes in the team have hampered us much as we have a good team.”
Ranti Martins scored in the 12th minute to give his side the lead but wasn’t at his best – something which the coach acknowledged.
“I would say that Ranti was indeed off-colour and I would credit the opposition central defenders for keeping him quiet. But Mohammedan as a team played well as they want to see relegation.”
