East Bengal coach Armando Colaco has backed his former side, Dempo SC to get full points when they face Bengaluru FC on 21st April in Goa.
The I-League title race is set to go down the wire with Bengaluru FC leading the table with 41 points, closely followed by Salgaocar FC and East Bengal.
“I am optimistic that Dempo will try to get as many points against Bengaluru,” he said.
Colaco mentioned that there is no anxiety within the squad going into their final three matches of the season.
“There is no pressure. I have asked then to just go out and enjoy. I am happy and proud of the boys as they have come up from the seventh position.”
Bengaluru FC play their last two fixtures in Goa and East Bengal too have two matches away from home. Colaco doesn’t buy the argument of home advantage and instead believes otherwise.
“I think it’s always difficult to play at home rather than away since in home matches every spectator is a coach.”
The former India coach was pleased to see his side ease past Pune FC 3-1 last weekend and praised Ryuji Sueoka for his unselfish display.
“Winning is a great relief. They (East Bengal) played very well today. When they were winning 3-1 they still wanted to score. I get worried when they go and play selfish football.”
“I am happy about Sueoka. He has shown selflessness today even when he could score himself. He has been given the freedom to play where he liked while Chidi (Edeh) was asked to slow down the play and hold up.”
Colaco admitted that there is a great spirit within their ranks as they head into the final three matches of the season.
“Now the confidence is back. Goals are coming from Chidi, Sueoka while (Cavin) Lobo is also playing well.”
