Shrinivas Dempo has confirmed reports of making a bid for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) which has been conceptualised by the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) commercial and marketing partners, IMG-Reliance.

Dempo, along with Videocon and Dattaraj Salgaocar, who is the younger brother of Shivanand Salgaocar and the brother-in-law of Mukesh Ambani, have collaborated for the project

"I can only confirm that we have gone ahead and made the bid," he told Goal. The Dempo chairman however added that the bid has nothing to do with his I-League club.

"One thing I will make very clear is that Dempo Sports Club has not bidded for the IMG-Reliance league. So we (Dempo SC) will continue as an entity that will participate in the I-League and I do believe that, that should form the core of Indian football. This (ISL bid) is a complete commercial venture."

When asked if the players and/or coaching staff of Dempo SC could be involved in the ISL venture, the AIFF vice-president stated that it hasn't been decided as yet.

"That depends on what stand the IPFCA (I-League Professional Football Clubs' Association) takes and how our discussion spans out with the All India Football Federation," he said.
