Khalid Jamil's side bagged a vital win over the northeast outfit as they moved away from the relegation zone...Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.
|TOP: ASHUTOSH MEHTA
Mehta carried over his good performance against East Bengal to the match against the Reds of Shillong, ensuring that his side gathered the much needed three point. Mehta found himself in space after a defensive lapse by the home side and the Mumbai midfielder made no mistake in hammering the ball past the Lajong custodian much to the delight of coach Khalid Jamil. Mehta’s goal turned out to be the winner.
|FLOP: ROBIN GURUNG
Robin Gurung made a mess of a long ball from Mumbai which he headed straight up. With no one in the Lajong ranks following up, Ashutosh Mehta from the rival ranks made merry to lead Mumbai to a victory. Gurung’s lapse cost the Lajong the defeat to Mumbai.
