thumbnail Hello,

The assistant coach of the Purple brigade rubbished suggestions that Lalkamal Bhowmick left for home after being sent-off…

Lalkamal Bhowmick was given his marching orders against Mohammedan Sporting as he picked two cards in the space of six minutes to leave United Sports Club to contend 20 minutes or so with ten-men.

“Lalkamal made the mistake against the run of the play. That's not something you can correct in practice. He is an experienced player and we will talk to him later. He is taking rest now in the dressing room,” said assistant coach Anjan Nath.

The Kolkata outfit have 22 points from 21 games following their 1-1 draw against Mohammedan Sporting and Nath hopes that his side can at least pick a point from each of their three outings against Mohun Bagan, Churchill Brothers and East Bengal.

“The boys tried hard and I am still hopeful that we would be able to save relegation.  Everybody tried to play his part. It was not easy to beat this Mohammedan side.

“We want to earn at least one point each from all our remaining fixtures and I think it will be great for us.  This can take us to the safe zone I think.”
