Top and Flop: Salgaocar FC 1-2 Rangdajied United FC

The visitors from Meghalaya came-back to down Salgaocar FC 2-1 at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco on Saturday
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

TOP: RANTI MARTINS

The Nigerian changed the fate of the Shillong-based team in a matter of minutes on Saturday. Rangdajied were trailing from the 83rd minute and it took Martins just three minutes to find the back of the net by tapping in a Eugeneson Lyngdoh’s corner-kick which stunned the home crowd. He went on to score the winner in the 90th minute from a David Nghaite cross as he headed the ball home comfortably.

FLOP: CAITANO COSTA

Costa was yet another player tried in the left full back position by Salgaocar FC coach Derrick Pereira, but the Goan failed to deliver. The defender who is on-loan from Pune FC often opted for the safer option of square passes to his own team-mates instead of playing it forward.
