Top and Flop: Churchill Brothers 1-4 Dempo SC

Goal picks out the best and worst performer when Churchill were thrashed 4-1 by Dempo SC...
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

TOP: Tolgay Ozbey

The Australian wrecked havoc in the Churchill defense on a night where he secured his first hat-trick in a Dempo shirt. He started the rout when he dispossesed Sanjay Balmuchu and blasted the ball into the net. The second saw Ozbey smash it again from the six yard box. He completed his hat-trick late into the first half with a easy header from a Romeo Fernandes cross and then scored a fourth late in the match to complete a majestic performance.

FLOP: Denzil Franco

The Goan defender had a horrible outing at the back. Churchill's attack in the first half mainly came from the right flank where Denzil and Saran Singh were operating, but the former put in poor crosses from attacking positions. He gave away the ball far too easily on multiple occassions to heap further misery on Churchill's hapless I-League campaign.
