The coach of the Kolkata side was pleased that his players managed to eke out a draw against a team fighting for the title…
United Sports Club managed to pick a point against an in-form Salgaocar FC last weekend as they held them to a 0-0 draw in Goa.
They lie in tenth position in the standings and are very much embroiled in the fight to avoid the drop.
"We are very satisfied (with a point). Salgaocar is now is second position and they won the last few matches. One point is good for our team,” said assistant coach Ananta Kumar Ghosh.
It’s been eleven games since United SC registered a win in the I-League and on being probed over the performance of the players, Ghosh came to their defence. He pointed towards the club's financial woes as they haven't yet managed to rope in a sponsor following Prayag Group's exit.
"Our players tried their best. Our team is facing financial problems. Nobody got their salaries for the last eight months. It's difficult for the players.
“All the players are professional and they play to earn money. Hats off to all my players who have promised to be with us till the end of the season whether we are down or up. Everybody is happy in our team. I salute my players," said Ghosh.
