The former India international admitted that his side needs to buck up soon in order to avoid relegation…
Mumbai FC suffered their fifth defeat in the I-League 2013-14 season as they were downed 2-0 by Salgaocar FC on Sunday evening in Goa.
The Mumbai club find themselves in the tenth position with 19 points, four more than bottom placed Churchill Brothers who have a game in hand.
“Now we are in a dangerous position. Rangdajied United have also come up,” said Jamil.
Speaking on the defeat to Salgaocar, the Mumbai FC coach stated that his side gifted the two goals to the opposition.
“There was no concentration and focus and that’s why we conceded silly goals. The first goal was kind of an own goal, I think. It (Bikash Jairu's cross) hit the post and fell for Gilbert [Oliveira]. His shot then it hit Sandesh [Jhingan] and entered the goal. The way I saw it, it was a self goal. It was not cleared and it went in.
“The second goal was also a same mistake. It was a through ball [by Clifton Dias] and we failed to provide cover. It was a good finish [by Dudu Omagbemi],” he mentioned.
In the second half, Jamil introduced Yusif Yakubu, Jayesh Rane and Ashutosh Mehta hoping to claw their way back into the tie.
“I made some attacking changes in the second half as we were 2-0 down but they didn't click and we didn't defend well.
“We could have equalised in the second half. [Yusif] Yakubu's shot hit the post and Ebi [Sukore] missed an open chance. So we could have made a comeback in the game. But we didn't work hard enough.”
