Sanjoy Sen: 26 points will be enough to save from relegation

The Mohammedan Sporting gaffer wasn’t pleased with the quality of football on display for the spectators…

Mohammedan Sporting and Mohun Bagan dished out a listless performance in the 0-0 draw at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.

Sanjoy Sen acknowledged that the game didn’t live up to the standard and took a dig at referee T Nagvenkar for not awarding a penalty when Christopher Chizoba allegedly handled the ball inside the box.

“The game was most ordinary. We dominated and tried playing passes. I do not usually talk about referees but we are a team who has suffered most in the league. If a goal bound ball is handled, that's a clear penalty,” said Sen.

He explained his reason for not playing with two strikers and how it was only one team who wanted to win the tie.

“I cannot play two strikers as that will hamper my team’s organisation. We tried to go for the win. We were the ones who passed and tried keeping possession.

“Football today was of a very poor quality. We tried but the opponent team (Mohun Bagan) did not let us play. I could hear shouts of 'leave it' from the touchline,” Sen mentioned.

The Black and Whites are still embroiled in a battle to survive and Sen believes that another nine points from the next matches would suffice.

“I think 26 points will be enough. However we are not worried about relegation at all.”
