The coach of the north eastern brigade was pleased with his side’s performance as they edged out the league leaders…
Not many would have backed bottom placed Rangdajied United to spring a surprise on table toppers Bengaluru FC last weekend as the latter suffered a 3-2 defeat.
Coach Hering Shangpliang was ecstatic to start his tenure with a win as the club is battling to stay in the top division.
“It’s really great and I give credit to all the players who have been with the team because you need spirit to win against Bengaluru as they are a very strong team.”
“The only thing I said to the boys was to ‘go and give your best. Football is like this as you have ups and downs but on any given day and time we can beat any team so go there and give your best.’ I told them to perform,” he said.
Shangpliang acknowledged that new addition Ranti Martins played an important role in the victory as he constantly harassed the Bengaluru FC defenders with his movement.
“His experience has contributed a lot to the team because he is the man that creates a lot of problems for the opposition.”
Rangdajied have seven matches more to avoid the drop and Shangpliang is aware of the enormous task that lies ahead.
“The challenge from here on is that you have to work a little harder. You could see that we still need to work on a lot of areas. We need to work especially on our fitness levels.”
