Top and Flop: Salgaocar FC 3-1 Shillong Lajong FC

Salgaocar overcame Lajong at home with the help of a double strike from their top scorer, Darryl Duffy
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

The Salgaocar number 7 found himself in the right place to slot in the loose ball, after Nicolau Colaco's cross that was intended for Francis Fernandes, fell to him instead following a fumble from the hands of Lajong goalkeeper Vinay Singh. Duffy then went on to bag his second of the game with a powerful right-footed strike after receiving a pass from Dudu Omagbemi. The Scot almost headed in the fourth for Salgaocar in injury time.

The Lajong goalkeeper gifted the opposition an a easy goal in a moment which saw him make a mess of a regulation cross and was punished by an alert Duffy who was lurking around the area. The early goal didn't help matters for the visitors and Thangboi Singto decided to substitute the man between the sticks in the second half.
