thumbnail Hello,

Balwant Singh starred for the reigning league champions against the Mariners who were held to a 2-2 draw...

Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

TOP: Balwant Singh

Balwant Singh was in sublime form against Mohun Bagan as he scored a couple of goals to win a crucial point for the Red Machines in an away fixture. His goals brought to fore his versatality. His first goal came off a header which gave his team the lead. In the 90th minute, he scored with a gem of a volley from outside the box to stun the Bagan faithful. Top display from the most in-form Indian striker.

FLOP: Denson Devadas
The Mohun Bagan midfielder had a poor outing in the middle of the park. He was always second best to Abdelhamid Shabana and was poor in possession. Often he would give away the ball cheaply to the opposition and his tackling wasn't the best either.
