The Nigerian is set to ply his trade in India again after a hiatus of seven years…
Salgaocar FC have completed their quota of foreign players after having signed striker Dudu Omagbemi who is set to arrive in Goa later this month. This would be second stint at the club where he was on loan from Sporting Clube de Goa back in 2002-03 season.
After having released Claude Gnakpa as the player was carrying a shoulder injury, Salgaocar have been on the lookout for a centre-forward.
According to sources close to Goal, the player will be asked to undergo a medical and only if he passes the test, will he be handed a contract given that Omagbemi hasn’t played much over the last year or so.
“The player has to prove his fitness with us. After the signing of Seiji Saito who was released later, we realized that we will hand a contract only if the player undergoes a medical with us,” informed a Salgaocar official who didn’t wish to be named.
“Dudu’s visa formalities are left and we have to get ITC (International Transfer Certificate) too,” the official added.
The 28-year old had five successful seasons with Sporting Clube de Goa where he finished as the top scorer on two occasions. He went on to join Poland’s Wisla Krakow before joining Debreceni in Hungary.
He last plied his trade for Finnish club KuPS where his contract came to an end last December.
