Churchill Brothers SC are placed in Group A of the Federation Cup that is set to kick off on 14 January as the Goan giants will face United Sports Club at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Kochi, Kerala.

Pune FC and Eagles FC make up for the other two teams in the group against whom the Red Machines are scheduled to play on the 17th and 20th of this month.

With Syrian players Yasser Shahen and Naser Al Sebai being released by the club, Churchill have roped in former Trinidad & Tobago international Anthony Wolfe and Costa Rican striker Christian Lagos besides Egyptian midfielder Abdelhamid Shabana. However Lagos will not be participating in the Federation Cup as his international transfer certificate is yet to arrive.

"We are looking out for a [foreign] defender now," confirmed coach Mariano Dias, who also admitted that his side has struggled to find the right chemistry this term after winning the I-League title last season.

"There have been a lot of changes this year. I think we are not getting good quality players (foreigners). You know that we want people who can make a difference in the team, especially since we are at the bottom [of the I-League table]. Hopefully we will get someone in the [January] transfer window," he said.

In anticipation to mend their season's woes in the new calendar year, the Goan concluded, "We want to win the Federation Cup and we will try our best."
