FICCI's GOAL 2014: International Convention on Football Business

GOAL 2014 would be the second international convention focused on the business of football in India after its spectacular success last year. The intention of the second edition of GOAL is to bring together the most relevant stakeholders behind the growing football industry of India and to create awareness on business opportunities that are unfolding around this beautiful game.

This pioneering initiative to promote Indian football will focus on football in Asia and opportunities in India. FICCI's GOAL 2014, supported by the All India Football Federation and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, is the biggest convention on the business of football hosted in India and brings together hundreds of key influencers within the global and Indian football industries for two days of strategic dialogue around the game.

The event will have attendance from representatives of FIFA, Asian Football Confederation, and Asian Football Development Project. Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF, said: “AIFF’s strong focus on youth development and getting the hosting rights of FIFA U-17 World cup will lift the stature of India as a footballing nation and attract the attention of Indian masses to this beautiful game. It is essential that all the stakeholders including industry work in tandem to make the tournament a success. “GOAL 2014” India Football Convention is a well timed opportunity for the stakeholders to deliberate and discuss the successful organization of FIFA U-17 World Cup.”

During the conference various topics will be discussed including generating ROI through football, creating an Indian football ecosystem, CSR & grassroots football in India and how India prepares for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The sessions during the two days of conference will focus on:

Mr. Sanjiv Paul, Chairman, FICCI Sports Committee & Managing Director, Tata Metaliks said “I have for a long time believed that we have the ability and firepower at Indian Football to do extremely well on the field. The convention would be held at the FICCI Federation House and will include conference, B2B Meetings, networking lunch and dinner and exhibitions besides annual India Sports (& Football Awards). Libero Sports India (LSI), who are the knowledge partners to this event have been instrumental in conceptualizing this initiative along with FICCI and AIFF.

Mr. Rajpal Singh, Director & Head-Sports, FICCI said, “The convention this year is going to get bigger and better. We are expecting around 400 people to participate in “GOAL 2014”.
