Top and Flop: Shillong Lajong 2-1 Dempo SC

Dempo were again relegated to a defeat as they went down narrowly to a spirited Lajong side...
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

The winger kept on pressurising the Dempo defense and showed his set piece expertise when he popped up from nowhere to score his team's winning goal. After Lalchhuanwawia Fanai was fouled, Haokipe curled in a beatuiful freekick which sneaked past Kattimani.

Besides the goal he linked up excellently with Tuboi and Subash Singh who played upfront and it was only due to profligacy from the front two that the scoreline did not have a better look.

The Dempo custodian should have done a lot better with Haokip's freekick as he was beaten on his near side from 25 yards and let slip the team's hard fought one point in Shillong.
