thumbnail Hello,

The Goan outfit continued their excellent form on Saturday as they edged past United Sports Club...

Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

TOP: GONZALO HINOJAL NEILA

Gonzalo was effective at both ends of the pitch against United Sports Club on Saturday. He comfortably dealt with Ranti Martins throughout the entire match while also getting on the scoresheet with United SC keeper Abhijit Das just tipping his glancing header out.

He did not let his guard down even in the dying minutes as he kept out Deepak Mondal's teasing cross in the 89th minute to see his team win again.

FLOP: RANTI MARTINS

Martins was left isolated in attack for the Kolkatan outfit. Having to drop deep in midfield to get the ball he was well marked by Arturo Garcia and struggled to get into attacking positions. Even when he did get the ball he failed to convert the couple of half chances which could have won his team a point.
