Top and Flop: Rangdajied United FC 1-1 Mumbai FC

The home team had to settle for a point against the resilient Mumbaikars who did well in their away fixture...
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

The Nigerian striker cancelled out Rangdajied United FC's 19th minute goal as he latched on to a through ball on the left, went past two defenders craftily and if this was not enough, he ensured that Subrata Paul had no chance to stop his shot from going in. It was sheer excellence from Yakubu which brought Mumbai back into the match at a time when the home side were dominating.

The striker did not have the best of outings against Khalid Jamil's side in Shillong. Manandeep had a chance to take the hosts into the lead as early as in the 15th minute when an Edmar Figueira through ball found him inside the box. However a lack of anticipation from him meant that goalkeeper Nidhin Lal took control. He squandered another opportunity in the 25th minute when he shot almost straight into the hands of the rival custodian.
