The defending champions downed the Kolkata outfit 3-1 on Sunday to register only their second victory in this season's I-League...Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.
|TOP: LENNY RODRIGUES
The Indian intenational, who has been in poor form, rediscovered his touch against Mohammedan Sporting.
He was involved in a number of attacking forays in the first half that ended 0-0 before the Goan side broke the deadlock six minutes in the second half. Rodrigues blasted the ball past goalkeeper Luis Barreto from outside the box after Jaison Vales found him on the right with a crisp pass.
The midfielder's work rate at the center of the park was commendable on the evening as the 26-year-old was incisive with his passing.
|FLOP: RAKESH MASIH
The on-loan player from Salgaocar FC was lucky to get away with a foul on Churchill Brothers midfielder Abdelhamid Shabana in the 28th minute but eventually went on to concede a penalty at a time when the Goan side were already leading by two goals and thus taking the game away from Mohammedan Sporting.
