thumbnail Hello,

The Mumbai FC coach said that his side played well despite not adapting well to weather conditions...

Khalid Jamil, coach of Mumbai FC, was satisfied as his team came back from an early deficit against Rangdaijied United to score the equalizer courtesy of striking sensation Yusif Yakubu. That’s how the match ended, with both teams on equal terms and sharing the points.

He stressed the importance in the form of both goalkeepers, Nidhin Lal (Mumbai FC) and Subrata Paul (Rangdajied United) who kept their teams in the hunt for the victory, whilst believing his side did all they could, given the tough climatic conditions.

Firstly, asked if he was happy about his team’s performance in the encounter, Jamil replied, “Yes I was. We played better as weather condition was very humid.”

Questioned if he felt there was a defensive problem in the first half which Rangdajied exploited, Jamil replied, “Only during set-pieces, otherwise the defending was okay. Like I’ve said, we only landed here two days ago. The weather has been very cold. The dew has been unbearable as well. But we played better. We conceded an early goal but got back on equal terms soon. We had chances in the second half but couldn’t put them away.”

Quizzed on the vitality of his goalkeeper, Nidhin Lal, who played a part in blocking a majority of Rangdajied’s dangerous offensive manoeuvres, Khalid replied, “I think today both goalkeepers were good. Subrata was excellent today. He blocked chances that were a sure shot goal and then he also blocked Yakubu’s shot. I think both goalkeepers played well.”

When enquired on the team’s performance and how it has increased over the last few matches, Jamil opined, “Like I’ve said after the arrival of the IMG-R players and Yakubu as well, I’m very happy. All credit to the boys.”

“Yakubu was exceptional today. He scored a very good goal.”
