thumbnail Hello,

Goal takes a look at the hero and the zero of the match as Dempo snatched an unlikely away victory against a woeful Bagan side...

Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

Although Holicharan Narzary ran away with all the plaudits, courtesy his winning goal, it was Alwyn George who was a constant thorn for the Bagan defenders. The youngster who started on the right wing but drifted infield at will took the opposition for a spin with his pace and guile. He almost got on the scoresheet too as his shot from 30 yards out was somehow cleared off the goal-line.

The Mohun Bagan midfielder had a bad day in office as almost all his passes went awry. Normally dependable in the centre of the park, Denson also uncharacteristically gave the ball away a number of times and was generally sloppy. Karim Bencherifa replaced him at half time as he looked to save the game.
