After the 1-3 defeat against Churchill Brothers in the I-League, Kolkata club decided to hand the Nigerian coach the pink slip...Mohammedan Sporting have parted ways with Bola Moshood Aziz after their dismal start to the I-League campaign which has seen them pick 13 points from 12 matches.
"Yes, we have terminated our contract with Aziz. Sanjoy Sen is our next coach. He will take charge on Wednesday," Iqbal Ahmed, one of the top officials of the century-old Kolkata club told Goal.
Moshood had taken charge of the team at the start of the season after the team got promoted to the top tier of the I-League.
Quite interestingly, they became the runners-up of the I-League second division under the tutelage of Sanjoy Sen.
"First I have to understand the position the boys are in and then chalk out my plan. I will be taking over from Friday and will have to talk to the players first," Sanjoy Sen told Goal after he was named the new gaffer of the Black and Whites.
"I also don't think that the Federation Cup draw has been easy for us. Look at this year's I-League and you will find that there is nothing called a small team. So, days are gone when you could term a little team as minnows. We need to be cautious this time around," he further remarked.
Mohammedan soon need to turn the tide as they aren't very far from the relegation zone after having won the Durand Cup under Moshood.
