For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

Kalu saw his attempt go wide in the opening minutes but he soon found his goal scoring boots. In the 21st minute, he sent an overhead-kick towards goal but the referee's assistant had his flag raised.
Shillong Lajong goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte was left rooted to the spot as Kalu headed in a Mauvin Borges' cross from the left in the 26th minute. In the 59th minute, Kalu pulled off another great finish as he thumped the ball to the left of Ralte from Arturo Garcia's low free-kick. He completed his hat-trick as he toed the ball in from a corner taken from the right by Beevan D'Mello.
|FLOP: C LALLAWMZUALA
Lallawmzuala struggled to come to grips with the pace of the game as the midfielder was seen chasing the orange shirts all day. He got booked for a rash tackle after the hour mark. He was also guilty of a miss-pass that allowed Boima Karpeh flee with the ball and score in the 65th minute.
