thumbnail Hello,

It was a goalkeeping error that cost the defending champions the match while Lajong put in a commendable defensive display...

Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

TOP: WAILADMI PASSAH

The local lad from Meghalaya did not allow the Churchill Brothers strikers to combine in and around his team's 18 yard box. The Lajong defender made a vital interception to deny Bineesh Balan from getting on the end of Lenny Rodrigues' pass in the 14th minute while also blocking Balwant Singh's goal bound effort in the 34th minute. His positioning and anticipation was immaculate as his team kept a clean sheet.

FLOP: ARINDAM BHATTACHARYA

Cornell Glen found himself with the ball in the opponent's box after goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya made a schoolboy error. With Glen lurking in the box, the ball slipped from the Churchill custodian allowing the Trinidad and Tobago striker to slot it into the right corner.
