thumbnail Hello,

Dempo SC battled hard to secure a point against United SC at the Salt Lake Stadium. Find out who we think topped and who flopped...

Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

If Dempo were going home with a point against United SC who battered them, especially in the second half, the central defenders would definitely need to be credited but the hero of the game was their custodian. Laxmikant Kattimani clearly showed why he had relegated the massively experienced Subhasish Roy Chowdhury to the bench and established himself as the number one between the sticks. Making save after save with consumate ease, the 24 year old was in no mood to be beaten.

Eelco Schattorie had pinned his hopes on a returning Lal Kamal Bhowmick who was supposed to be the creative force in United's midfield to create chances for Ranti Martins whose goals had dried up due to a lack of service. However, Bhowmick looked leggy in the entire match with his passes going astray and was also sluggish in his movement.
