thumbnail Hello,

The Mariners failed to make their home advantage count as they played into the plans of the Shillong side, who recorded their first win of the campaign...

Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

TOP: SUBRATA PAUL

The Indian international, who had joined Rangdajied only a couple of weeks ago, pulled off a stellar performance to deny the dangerous Odafa Okolie from getting on the scoresheet. His anticipation was brilliant and as the game progressed, the duel between Subrata and the talismanic Nigerian became a treat to watch. His best save of the match came in the 85th minute when he curled his body perfectly to fist away an Odafa header which looked destined for the top corner besides keeping out at least two sure goals in the first half.

FLOP: ERIC MURANDA

The Kenyan striker was caught off pace during the build up of most of Mohun Bagan's moves in the attacking third. During his short stint of 45 minutes on the pitch, he gave away the ball far too easily allowing the opposition to counter attack. He also lacked ideas in front of goal even after being fed with a couple of glorious balls from midfield.
