The north eastern club have strengthened their squad further by signing a striker from North Korea…
Having scored a mere six goals in nine matches played in the I-League in their debut campaign, Rangdajied United have signed DPR Korea’s Kim Song-Yong from Thailand’s second division club Nakhon Ratchasima.
Striker Ho-Jun Shin will still be with the club and play only in the Shillong league.
Song-Yong is strong in the air and has an excellent shooting ability. He has represented DPR Korea U-23 side in the past and has played for Kyoto Sanga FC in Japan too. He has even played for the DPR Korea national team on three occasions and has a goal to show.
Song-Yong said,“I am very happy and excited to finally have arrived in India. I look forward to repaying the faith showed in me by the Rangdajied United FC management. So my main focus will be to play well for the team, and have a successful season with Rangdajied United Football Club.”
Coach Santosh Kashyap said, "He is born in Japan and is very talented. He trialled with us for three-to-four days and I was impressed."
FIFA Licensed Agent and Libero Sports Partner Arvind Narayan, who represented Kim Song-Yong in the transfer, said: “Kim is a young and powerful striker with a sharp nose for goal. He’s a quality addition to the Rangdajied United FC team, who will best utilize his strength and directness with their style of play for him to beat defenses and score goals.”
