Thangboi Singto: We are unbeaten in six games now

The coach of the Reds from Shillong believes that their rivals have strengthened after roping in players from IMG-Reliance…

Thangboi Singto believes that his team could have got full points from the game against Rangdajied United as they created several goal scoring opportunities in the second half.

He praised the crowd in Shillong for turning up in numbers which made the atmosphere livelier.

“Before saying anything, I would like to appreciate the crowd as they turned up in great numbers. That is what football is all about you know, without the fans, football is nothing. So, I hope they can keep supporting the team.”

Rangdajied relied more on counterattacks as Singto acknowledged that they have an improved squad after the addition of experienced players from the IMG-Reliance bandwagon.

“About the match, I think we played well. Their tactics were to play on the counterattack with direct football and trying to score from set-pieces. They succeeded and definitely they are a better team now that they have strengthened their squad with better players coming in.

“But in the second half we came back strong. We kept pressing, created chances and should've scored more goals after the equalizer I think we were playing almost in their half except for a few counters. But in sport you have to take a few chances and that is always my point as instruction to the boys. If you don't take your chances and score goals, either you lose or draw but again, I think it was a good game of football and the good thing is we are unbeaten in six games now and I think this will help my players to keep up the spirit and confidence to go for the next game.”
