Dias lamented his side's will and chose to evade all pertinent questions as Dempo laid his team to the sword...Mariano Dias couldn’t hide his angst at Churchill Brothers' latest performance, which left them with a mountain to climb if they are to survive in the top division itself, a far cry from last year’s high of champions of the I-League.
With no win in their league campaign so far, Churchill find themselves in turbid waters after the latest defeat at the hands of Dempo SC. The Indian coach, morose with his team’s lack of progress, waded away from most of the questions.
On being asked on what went wrong with his team, Dias replied, “I’ve nothing to say. Please don’t ask me. Sorry.”
Pestered further on what his team’s problems were at the moment given their dour performances in general so far, Dias elucidated, “I can’t understand after playing so many games. There is no improvement at all. I don’t know.”
Dias was dissatisfied with the performance and on being asked if his team lacked a leader because they didn’t get their activities in the transfer window right, Dias countered, “But those that are there can play football. It’s eleven versus eleven. There’s no more than that. What is there? They’ve played last year, they’ve played so many years before that too. So what is the difference?”
Questioned if losing Beto in the summer was an important drawback that is exposing his team badly now, Dias replied, “There are eleven players. One player doesn’t make a big difference. If you go to see in the second half, we were all over them.”
