Top and Flop: East Bengal 2-3 Salgaocar FC

The Red and Gold's suffered their second loss in the campaign when Derrick Pereira's tactics sealed another away victory for the Goan side.
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

The Indian international was the best performer on the turf as he got the better of the East Bengal defense on more than one occasion with his blistering pace. He played a big part in the first goal as his run down the left flank allowed Darryl Duffy the space to shoot. For the second goal, he went on to a daunting run, before finishing the move with an intelligent lob over the goalkeeper.

He was constantly troubling the defensive pair of Uga Okpara and Gurwinder Singh. He also tracked back on a number of occasions to not allow East Bengal attackers any space to manoeuvre.

The Nigerian striker had an early chance to score but his delay in taking the shot allowed Chika Wali to track back and block.

His link-up with James Moga was also shambolic and he chose to shoot himself on a number of occasions rather than passing it to his team-mate.
