The former Swansea City striker wants to be top scorer in the I-League this season…
Darryl Duffy has been in top form for Salgaocar FC having scored six goals in seven matches. In the last few games, the responsibility to score has been shared by players all across the field as opposed to Duffy alone, which he believes is a positive sign.
"I am the highest scorer and I definitely want to stay where I am sitting for now. In the early matches, I was the only goal-scorer for the team. However a lot of other players are also scoring goals now. That's a very good sign for the team," he said.
Duffy explained that he has been asked to drop on a few occasions by coach Derrick Pereira though it isn’t to his liking, he is willing to adjust for the team’s sake.
"I like to play in as the central striker and I don't like dropping down much. Here the coach is telling me to drop down a little, but that's no problem for me. I have played in similar roles in the past as well," he mentioned.
Duffy has been impressed by several players in the I-League and said, "A number of players from the opposition have impressed me. Deepak Mondal from United Sports Club, Katsumi Yusa from Mohun Bagan, Jeje [Lalpekhlua] from Dempo and the foreigners of Bengaluru. Calum Angus of Pune FC is also a very good player and I have seen him in a few matches. I look forward to facing them."
