Khalid Jamil’s side has completed their quote of foreign players, with all of them being from Afghanistan…
Mumbai FC have strengthened their squad ahead of the tie against Bengaluru FC by signing striker Hashmatullah Barikzai and midfielder Ahmad Hatifie.
Nigerian striker Orok Essien was released following a listless display in the last couple of matches. The club already has Afghanistan skipper Haroon Amiri and Sanjdar Ahmadi in their ranks.
Jamil was in Nepal during the SAFF Championship and had held talks with Barikzai, Hatifie for a potential move to Mumbai FC. The club got frustrated in their attempts to lure Yusif Yakubu who apparently has had difficulty in getting a visa.
“Yes, we have roped in two more Afghanistan players,” informed Mumbai FC Vice-president Atul Bagdamia told Goal.
Barikzai has played for Kabul Bank FC back home scoring 156 goals in 178 appearances and also scored twice in the SAFF Championship in September.
Hatifie has represented the national squad since 2007 and also holds a degree in Exercise Biology from the University of California.
