Dempo Sports Club have roped in former Arrows players, namely Alwyn George, Holicharan Narzary, Pronay Halder and Narayan Das, to strengthen their roster.
The coach of the Goan side, Arthur Papas, feels that the youngsters can add a lot to his side while admitting his pleased to work with them again.
"All of them bring the additional depth we have been lacking in certain positions and having worked with them before, I am pleased to have this opportunity again. They are all young and other than the direct benefit we obtain by having them with us, in general, Indian football is better off with these boys back playing competition football," he told Goal.
Papas however conceded that it would be difficult to say by when the new recruits will be ready for action. "At this stage we are not sure because they have spent considerable time not playing. So we will be looking to integrate them accordingly," he said.
Besides, the Australian made it known that there are a couple of concerns from players having been ill who are been monitoried at the moment. "In regards to Mahesh [Gawli], he has now returned from Australia but still needs some more time before we consider him for selection," Papas added.
Meanwhile, Dempo SC have only one win to show in the six matches that they have played so far, from which the five-time champions have drawn three and lost two. Giving his views on facing Mohun Bagan on Friday, Papas kept in view the resurgent form that the Mariners have been enjoying lately.
"Mohun Bagan will be full of confidence coming off two wins in a row but at the same time this has them placed only two points above us," he observed. "We (Dempo) will need to be aggressive from the first minute as I expect them to try and play a high pressure game. This league has already shown that any team is beatable on any given day and we will need to be at our best to gain the three points."
