The Churchill head coach praised his boys after they earned a point with an equalising goal scored in the 90th minute...
Mariano Dias, coach of Churchill Brothers, was impressed with his side's comeback as a late Hugo Machado goal earned the Goan side a valuable point away from home.
Churchill had taken the lead through Bineesh Balan before Milan Singh and Uilliams Bomfin scored for Shillong Lajong. It took a late goal by their Portuguese midfielder to ensure that they do not suffer their fourth loss in six games played in the I-League.
"It's a good result. In the first half we created a lot of chances and we could have been up by 3-0.Overall it was a very good game. Our boys fought till the end and I am very happy with the result," he said.
Dias heaped praise on the goal scorers - Balan and Machado, who seems to have recovered finally from an injury he suffered in the pre-season.
"They displayed very good football and they worked really hard till the end of the match which earned us a valuable point."
The Churchill coach took nothing away from Shillong Lajong who could have snapped full points had it not been for a gem of a free-kick taken by Machado.
"Lajong played quite well. They really played well in the first half by scoring two goals and with the crowd backing, they were very impressive," he concluded.
