thumbnail Hello,

The Englishman was pleased with his team’s performance against Dempo but mentions that their real test awaits them…

Bengaluru FC’s purple patch of form has seem them occupy the top spot in the standings. They are one of the two sides who are unbeaten in the I-League this term alongside Pune FC.

On Wednesday, they eased past Dempo SC whose confidence was high after hammering East Bengal 3-1 in their own backyard. The Bangalore-based outfit scored two early goals and added another in the second half before Dempo managed to sneak one in with the final score reading 3-1.

"We settled with our game plan and worked hard in the 12 days we were off. Everyone's done their jobs. If the players carry out information they have been given, we will always have a chance in every game we play,” he said.

Bengaluru FC have played all their five games so far at home and Westwood acknowledged that they will have to prove their mettle on the road as well.

"We haven't played away from home as yet and that will be our real test. We know that in any league, it's only after 10 games that you get a true reflection of the table and we've played only five. We are not getting carried away with ourselves. We're only going to keep working hard and see where it takes us,” he opined.

Their next test is against East Bengal on Saturday who are desperate to get a win after the disappointment in the AFC Cup semi-finals. Westwood hopes that his side can continue their good run of form and take something from the tie.

"We will take East Bengal on merit and see what we can get out of the trip."
