Top and Flop: East Bengal - Dempo SC

Falopa's troops put to the sword by a ruthless display from Papas' men as Dempo SC hope to return from the shadows...
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

The Brazilian was in top form against East Bengal as he scored two crucial goals and orchestrated the play in their emphatic 3-1 win in Kolkata. Beto was part of almost every attacking move and his deft first touch often let the East Bengal rearguard puzzled as to which way he would move.

The reliable defender had a poor outing against Dempo as he brought down Joy Ferrao in what was a reckless challenge from behind inside the box resulting in him being given the marching orders. Beto scored frm the resultant penalty and East Bengal's hopes of making a comeback were crushed.
