Having started their pre-season late due to a financial crunch, United Sports Club would have had fitness concerns which became apparent when Tapan Maity and Lalkamal Bhowmick got injured.
Eelco Schattorie has struggled to field his best eleven and as had to make changes in order to keep the injury concerns to a bare minimum.
"We played 4 games and each time with a different team. We are not able to create the stability I want due to the off the field issues and injuries. Tapan and Lalkamal are still injured when (Mohamed) Rafique hasn’t t returned after representing his office side. Deepak Mondal hasn’t trained all week and just joins us,” he mentioned.
The Kolkata outfit arrived in Shillong on the 16th and couldn’t train on the following day due to a hunger strike called Ri Bhoi District Selection Commission Passed Candidates’ Association (RBDSCPCA).
“Shillong strike saw us didn’t train on Thursday. This is another obstacle that is not good for preparation. I am not coaching this match should at least be compensated by decent training,” he opined.
Schattorie had a verbal altercation with Rahul D’sa who was the fourth official in the game against Bengaluru where he was eventually banished to the stands. He has had to serve a two-match dugout ban as a consequence.
“The biggest worry will be the fourth official (Rahul D’sa) who sent me off will lead the next game. I hope the referee can separate personal feelings and do the job professionally,” he said.
