The Mumbai FC gaffer praised the Kolkata outfit but believes his side can churn out a result at home…
Mumbai FC had one of the worst starts last season as they lost their opening four fixtures. Having learnt from the mistakes from the previous campaign, the club has embarked on an unbeaten run and having garnered five points from their opening three fixtures.
Ahead of their tie against United SC at Balewadi Sports Complex, Khalid Jamil has urged his side to continue their good run of form.
“We aren’t thinking of being undefeated till now. If we are playing well, then we have to work even harder to maintain that level. If I think that we are playing well, then we could relax which isn’t good. You have to work very hard. The opposition is also a good team and hence we can’t take it easy,” he told Goal.
Mumbai FC often employ Haroon Amiri as a striker in the latter half of the match if they are trailing or in search of a winner.
“It depends on the situation whether we use him as a striker or not. In the last game against Churchill, we didn’t use Haroon as a striker. We will see whether to use him as a striker or not against United SC. We have strikers now. The last time around (against Dempo SC), we didn’t have Sanjdar Ahmadi,” he mentioned.
Climax Lawrence has been the lynchpin in the middle of the park since his move from Dempo SC last summer. He even scored the second goal against Churchill Brothers in their last game.
“It is my pleasure to have someone like Climax in my team. The youngsters are getting to learn from him. He is touchwood very good. I am very happy with him,” said Jamil.
He also showered praise on the form of Anwar Ali who hasn’t been in the best shape for the past couple of seasons with United Sikkim and Mohun Bagan respectively.
“God willing, he will better his performances even more,” said his coach.
Jamil praised the experienced heads in the Kolkata outfit and said,”United SC has an outstanding team with players like Deepak Mondal, Ranti Martins, Sangram Mukherjee and Belo Rasaq. Not only are they good players but also good humans.”
